Responsibility, the way we live it
Since Speick Naturkosmetik was founded by Walter Rau in 1928, our business has been guided by fairness, responsibility and a long-term perspective.
What drives us is a deep conviction that commercial success and the protection of our natural resources can go hand in hand, and that tradition and innovation are not opposites, but complementary strengths.
What does this mean in practice?
Responsibility is about far more than avoiding certain ingredients or manufacturing processes when developing and producing our products.
Nor is it solely about pursuing innovative packaging solutions that help reduce emissions and enable more responsible use of resources.
At our single production site in Leinfelden-Echterdingen, near Stuttgart, we strive to use the resources available to us as efficiently and responsibly as possible. Through our photovoltaic system, we generated around 40% of our electricity requirements ourselves in 2025.
The first photovoltaic modules were installed on one section of roof in 2013. In 2025, the system was expanded to an additional roof area, significantly increasing our solar generation capacity.
Since 2014, all remaining electricity requirements have been covered by 100% renewable electricity.
For heating, we have relied exclusively on biogas since 2016. In autumn 2025, the last previously uninsulated roof areas were upgraded with thermal insulation, which is expected to further reduce our biogas consumption in the years ahead.
Four charging points supply renewable electricity to both company vehicles and employees' cars. Since 2026, our company fleet has been fully electrified.
Sustainability as a management responsibility. Environmental and climate protection have always been embedded at management level, reflecting the importance these issues hold throughout our business.
Sustainability is not the responsibility of a separate department delivering a handful of isolated projects. Instead, decisions across all areas of the company are consistently assessed in terms of climate protection, emissions reduction and social responsibility.
These are not standalone topics for us. They are fundamental principles that shape the way we think and act every day.
With the support of digital technologies, we ensure the reliable collection, monitoring and transparent reporting of our key sustainability data. Since 2023, we have produced an annual greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory to measure and track our emissions.
