Speick on the right track
All Speick products contain the worldwide exclusive valuable extract of the medicinal Speick plant which grows wild in the high alpine region (lat. Valeriana celtica, certified as being from biologically regulated wild harvesting).
Speick has a calming effect on the central nervous system and simultaneously stimulating the vegetative nervous system. Speick relaxes without tiring and revitalises the body and mind. The alpine soil provides the Speick plant with special nutrients via the roots.
The harmonising, balancing medicinal properties of the Speick extract are released through its precious oil, which has been carefully extracted from the entire plant.
These days, Speick is almost exclusively indigenous to the protected Nock Mountains Biosphere Reserve in Carinthia. The conditions are ideal for the plant in this area; acidic soil with no trees and very little lime at altitudes of approx. 1,800 m.
This graceful little plant grows to a maximum of 15 cm high. The blossoms are a pale yellow and blend in with the abundance of alpine flowers. However, the characteristic scent is very noticeable, especially when the blossoms turn yellow from August/September.
For our alpine farming families with harvesting licenses, the Speick harvest is an important additional source of income in what is otherwise a frugal alpine farming existence. Fair trade with our alpine farming families has always been a matter of course for us.
